Megafon registers subsidiary for deployment of sub-sea link in Arctic

Russian mobile operator Megafon has registered its subsidiary, Arctic Link Rus, reports Comnews.ru. The new subsidiary will be headed by CEO Alexander Vlasov. The operator also announced a closed tender for the deployment of a 11,500-kilometre sub-sea link from Japan to Norway. The deal comes under the project Arctic Connect, prepared in cooperation with Finnish infrastructure operator Cinia Oy.  

Arctic Link Rus was registered on behalf of MF Digital, a full unit of Megafon. 

The management council of Megafon approved the acquisition of 50 percent of voting shares in Arctic Link Development Oy on 09 December 2019. This company is a joint venture between Megafon and Cynia Oy, wiht a focus on preparations under the project.
