MegaFon, Yota team up for development of LTE
MegaFon and Yota signed an agreement for the joint development of LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks in Russia. Under the agreement, MegaFon will be able to provide LTE services in 2012 using Yota equipment, and Yota will be able to use the network infrastructure of MegaFon to deploy its own LTE network next year. The agreement on joint development of the LTE network helps to implement the most advanced telecommunication technology and overcome the digital divide in Russia, the companies said. With the growth of LTE networks, MegaFon expects the country to join the world leaders in terms of LTE geographical coverage and subscriber base, as well as in terms of the total development level of mobile communications.
