MEPs approve limits on geo-blocking

The European Parliament has approved legislation putting limits on geo-blocking. This affects sales of goods and services across borders in the EU, but notably exempts sectors such as broadcasting and financial services. As proposed by the European Commission last May and approved by the Council in November, MEPs approved the draft law defining specific situations in which geo-blocking will not be allowed. This means that online sellers will not be able to discriminate against consumers elsewhere in the EU with regard to general terms and conditions, including prices, on the basis of their
