MEPs back tougher rules for online video, increase VoD quota

The European Parliament's culture Committee has called for tougher rules to protect children watching video online. They should have the same protection whether they are watching TV, a web-shared video or a web-streamed film, according to the proposed update of the EU's audiovisual services directive adopted by the committee. Their position still needs to be approved by Parliament as a whole. The MEPs wants video-sharing platforms such as YouTube to put in place easier mechanisms for users to report offensive content and step up their efforts responding to such alerts about content inciting
