Merging TIM and Open Fiber networks 'makes sense' – Fastweb CEO

Merging the fixed broadband infrastructure of Telecom Italia (TIM) with the wholesale broadband network of Open Fiber would make sense, according to the CEO of rival Italian operator Fastweb. "I say that it would make sense to merge the paths of TIM and Open Fiber," said Alberto Calcagno in an interview with business daily Il Sole 24 Ore, adding that Italian state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) could play a role as a shareholder "to guarantee investments, quality and network rollout."
