Mexican fixed broadband lines up 9% in Q1

Thursday 12 July 2018 | 11:20 CET | News
Mexico had 17.6 million fixed broadband lines at the end of March 2018, up 9 percent from a year earlier, according to data from the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). A 23 percent rise in fibre connections and a 19 percent increase in cable accesses offset a 2 percent fall in DSL lines, said the watchdog, adding that fixed broadband penetration climbed to 52 percent of households from 49 percent a year earlier. However, the total number of fixed telephone lines declined 2.4 percent in the quarter to around 20 million.
