Mexican regulator to review revoked MXN 12 bln Telcel fine

Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has announced that it will be reviewing the 2012 decision to revoke a fine of MXN 11.9 billion (approximately USD 770 million) imposed on the mobile operator Telcel (America Movil). Back in April 2011, the now defunct Mexican Federal Antitrust Commission (CFC) fined Telcel for alleged monopolistic practices in the mobile termination market. However, the fine was revoked after Telcel reached an agreement with the CFC to apply a number of anti-monopoly measures in lieu of paying the fine.
