Mexican regulator to review Telcel regulatory measures

Monday 5 September 2016 | 10:58 CET | News
America Movil has revealed that its Radiomovil Dipsa (Telcel) unit received a notification from telecom regulator IFT indicating that it has begun a process to evaluate "the impact of the asymmetric regulatory measures imposed in March 2014, and their possible review." Telcel was declared a dominant player in the mobile sector at the time, leading to stricter rules, including asymmetric interconnection rates, regulated access to passive infrastructure and elimination of national roaming charges with a view to introducing greater competition in the local telecommunications market.
