Mexican Supreme Court decision delays Telefonica spectrum fees claim

Mexico's Supreme Court has refrained from ruling on a claim for some MXN 7.9 billion (around USD 400 million) in compensation for spectrum fees from Telefonica's local unit, deciding to return the injunction to a lower court for judgment, reports local daily El Universal. The ruling by the first chamber of the SCJN on Telefonica's appeal against article 244-A of the Federal Rights Law could delay or derail the operator's chances of recovering the fees paid out for the 700MHz band, said the report.
