Mexico antitrust head dissents recusal on Telcel appeal

The head of Mexico's antitrust authority disagrees with the Federal Competition Commission's recent decision to recuse him from voting on an appeal made by mobile operator America Movil against a record USD 1 billion fine. However, Eduardo Perez Motta, president of Mexico's Federal Competition Commission, said he will respect and submit to his colleagues' decision, Dow Jones reports. Telcel questioned Perez Motta's impartiality in the case, citing public statements that he has made. Perez Motta also said he has "absolute confidence" that the decision to exclude him from the vote was based on
