Mexico awards licences to 32 new DTT channels

Monday 21 August 2017 | 11:30 CET | News
Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has announced that a total of 13 companies were awarded licences for 32 channels in the company's latest DTT frequency tender. In total, some MXN 1.61 billion was raised from the public auction, with four new groups entering the country's free-to-air (FTA) market. The new channels will cover some 50.4 million Mexicans, around 45 percent of the country's population, and have until the end of 2018 to begin broadcasting, said the IFT.
