Mexico fibre connections up 24% as fixed broadband penetration hits 16%

Mexican fibre connections rose by 23.6 percent in the year to the end of June 2020, according to OECD data cited by telecommunications regulator IFT. The result is far above the OECD average of 9.1 percent, prompting a 7.4 percent increase in the country's fixed broadband penetration rate, the third highest growth among OECD members, behind the Czech Republic (16.2%) and Turkey (9.5%). Mexican fixed broadband penetration stood at 16.2 accesses per 100 inhabitants at the end of June.
