Mexico mobile subscribers up 5% to 110 mln in Q3

The number of mobile telephony subscribers in Mexico reached 110.0 million at the end of the third quarter of 2016, nearly 5 percent more than the previous year's total of 105.1 million, according to the latest quarterly data published by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). The mobile penetration rate was up 3 percent year on year to 90 percent, with 84 percent of users on prepaid subscriptions and 16 percent on postpaid, the same proportion as in Q3 2015.
