Mexico planning to levy interim tax on OTT providers

Mexico has become the latest Latin American country to reveal plans to levy taxes on over-the-top (OTT) providers of digital services such as Netflix, reports Reuters, citing deputy finance minister Arturo Herrera. The official said Mexico's total tax take was too low relative to other Latin American countries and that it needed to increase public revenues, starting with digital services whose servers may be based in countries such as the US.
