Mexico set to delay 5G tender until 2021

Monday 6 July 2020 | 11:52 CET | News
Mexico is set to follow other Latin American countries including Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru by postponing its scheduled auction of 5G-ready spectrum due to the coronavirus pandemic, reports business daily El Economista, citing director of the IFT radio spectrum unit director Alejandro Navarrete. "In view of the effects of the health emergency, we will probably have to delay the start of [the 5G tender] for a few months," said Navarrete, adding that "there is still no determination as to whether we will be able to start the public consultation process this year or next."
