Mexico's IFT stops Nokia from using 700MHz band

Mexico's telecom watchdog IFT has prevented Nokia from accessing the 700MHz band for a series of technical tests, reports local daily El Universal, citing a regulatory decision. The IFT denied a request from Nokia to "test the economic and technical viability of developing technologies for the 700MHz band," according to the decision issued in January. The report adds that the IFT requested the opinion of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT), which said the 700MHz band was reserved for use by the Altan consortium, which last year won the tender to build and run the
