Mexico's Telmex loses dominant agent appeal

Tuesday 30 August 2016 | 10:06 CET | News
Mexican operator Telmex (America Movil) has lost an appeal against a 2014 ruling by regulator IFT declaring it a "dominant agent" in the telecommunications sector. In a statement to the Mexican stock market, Telmex said the appeal judgment was issued on 28 August by the second district court specialising in telecommunications and that it would examine the grounds of the decision before considering its next step. Telmex was declared a dominant player in the telecoms sector in July 2014, leading to a series of stricter rules.
