Michael Dell plans to raise his stake to 51% - report

Wednesday 30 January 2013 | 10:03 CET | News
Michael Dell plans to invest USD 500 million to USD 1 billion of his own funds into Dell to take majority control of the PC company he founded, reports Bloomberg, citing unnamed people familiar with the situation. He currently holds a 15.7 percent stake, worth around USD 3.6 billion. Dell is close to reaching an agreement on a buyout led by Silver Lake Management. Bloomberg writes that the move would give Dell more room to steer the company as the industry shifts away from PCs towards mobile and Cloud computing. None of the companies mentioned would comment on the matter.
