Microsoft blames NSA for ransomware attack

Microsoft has blamed the US National Security Agency for the WannaCry ransomware attack that affected tens of thousands of companies and public organisations in 150 countries starting on 12 May, including the UK's National Health Service, the Russian interior ministry and Telefonica. According to Bloomberg, the hack used a technique allegedly stolen from the NSA to target Microsoft's Windows operating system, with individuals and organisations that don't routinely update their machines particularly vulnerable.
