Microsoft calls for suppliers to give paid leave to workers

Microsoft has become the first large US company to insist that suppliers provide American workers paid leave. The company said it would require suppliers with 50 or more employees to give workers at least 15 days of paid leave a year. "We believe paid time off is an important benefit for workers in our economy," said Brad Smith, general counsel and executive president of legal and corporate affairs at Microsoft, in a blog post announcing the company's move. The requirement will apply to workers that have been with the supplier over nine months and the paid leave will have to come in the form
