Microsoft closes acquisition of GitHub

Microsoft has completed its acquisition of GitHub, bought for USD 7.5 billion. The move comes after the European Commission cleared the transaction earlier this month. The announcement was made by CEO Nat Friedman on the GitHub blog. Friedman said GitHub will continue to operate independently as a community, platform and business, and that it will retain its product philosophy.
