Microsoft cuts price of Surface RT tablet

Microsoft has slashed the price of its Surface RT tablet to compete with iPad in the US. The entry-level Surface RT model now sells for USD 349 without a cover/keyboard, versus its original price of USD 499. With the keyboard, the device's price has been cut to USD 449 from USD 599. Another version, with double the memory, costs USD 449 without the keyboard and USD 549 with it. Microsoft sold only 900,000 units in each of its first two quarters on the market, according to IDC. Microsoft declined to comment to Bloomberg on the price cuts. Its website describes the reduction as "a great tablet,
