Microsoft, Facebook, Telxius complete Marea subsea cable

Microsoft has announced the completion of the new Marea submarine cable across the Atlantic Ocean rolled out as part of a joint project with Facebook and Telefonica's infrastructure subsidiary Telxius. The 6,000 kilometer undersea cable connecting Virginia in the US to Bilbao in Spain has an "open" design that enables it to evolve with technology as well as a bandwidth capability of 160 terabytes of data per second, or 16 million times faster than the average home internet connection, said Microsoft in a blog post.
