Microsoft joins Linux Foundation as platinum member

Microsoft has announced that it has joined the Linux Foundation as a platinum member, committing to an annual donation of at least USD 500,000 a year to advance open source development and better collaborate with the open source community. The company added that it has become an active member of the open source community in part through the popularity of its open source and cross-platform application framework .NET Core, with Microsoft also announcing the addition of Google to the .NET Foundation's Technical Steering Group.
