Microsoft announced that Steven Sinofsky, its president of Windows and Windows Live, is leaving the company. Julie Larson-Green will be promoted to lead all Windows software and hardware engineering, and CFO and CMO Tami Reller will add responsibility for the business of Windows. Both executives will report directly to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. The changes are effective immediately. Larson-Green has worked at Microsoft since 1993, working on products such as early versions of Internet Explorer, the user experience for Microsoft Office and program management and the user interface for Windows 7 and 8. She will be responsible for all future Windows product development in addition to future hardware opportunities.
