
Microsoft previews 'Mango' Windows Phone release

Microsoft has previewed the next major release of Windows Phone, code-named Mango. The Mango release will offer more than 500 new features and will be available for free to Windows Phone 7 customers. It is scheduled to ship on new phones from the autumn. Further details on device update timing will be released closer to launch. Microsoft will also add Windows Phone support for additional languages, expand access to apps by launching Windows Phone Marketplace in new countries, and team with new OEM partners to expand into new markets. These new partners include Acer, Fujitsu and ZTE, which have confirmed plans to deliver new Windows Phone devices in markets worldwide. The additional languages to be supported include Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Swedish.
