Microsoft previews Windows 8

MIcrosoft gave a preview of Windows 8 at the Computex trade show in Taipei. The latest version of its OS is optimized for new touch-centric hardware, including tablets, and is also the first to work on both x86 and ARM-based architectures. The technical demonstration showed a variety of early prototypes running the new operating system. Microsoft and chipmakers AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments initially announced plans in January to work together on the next version of Windows.
