Microsoft settles on USD 26 million fine over Hungarian bribery and corruption charges

The US Department of Justice announced on 22 July that Microsoft agreed to a USD 26 million settlement over a bribery scheme funded by employees at Microsoft Hungary that violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, according to the Washington Post. Excess money obtained from increased prices of discounted software was used in turn to bribe government officials to generate more business.
