Millicom completes Zantel acquisition

Millicom announced it has completed the acquisition of Zantel, Tanzania's second-largest mobile operator by subscribers. The operator said that following receipt of regulatory approval it had completed the acquisition of an 85 percent stake in Zanzibar Telecom (Zantel). The government of Zanzibar has retained a 15 percent stake in the company. Zantel is the leading mobile operator on the island of Zanzibar with gross revenues in 2014 of USD 82 million.
