Minister invites Bouygues to merge with another operator

French economy minister Arnaud Montebourg told journalists during a visit to a plant in Faverges, Haute-Savoie, that he invites Bouygues Telecom to consider merging with another operator, AFP reports. The operator, which failed in its attempt to acquire SFR, which chose cabler Numericable instead, was recently reported to plan to cut up to 23 percent of its workforce. Montebourg replied to the news by saying about the mobile sector, "It is somewhat incredible that in a growth sector we have redundancy plans. We are kept at four operators which are competing increasingly hard at the detriment
