Minister's absence felt at Google cultural centre opening

France's minister of culture, Aurelie Filippetti, took the decision to not attend the inauguration of Google's cultural institute in Paris on 10 December. She said to Le Monde, "Despite the quality of projects conducted there, I do not want to serve as a guarantor for an operation that raises a number of questions we must treat with Google." The minister cites four points of friction: fiscal fairness, personal data protection, the protection of cultural diversity and copyright issues.
