Mobile banking startup N26 passes 1 mln customer mark
German mobile banking startup N26 has doubled the size of its customer base over the past nine months and now has 1 million customers across Europe, reported TechCrunch. The mobile banking app’s customer base now generates EUR 1 billion in transaction volume every month, while roughly 2,500 new users sign up for the app each day, they said. N26 said it aims to have 5 million customers by 2020 and plans to accomplish this by moving into the mobile payments market in the UK and US in the coming months.

Samsung could be preparing to launch its mobile payments service Samsung Pay in Germany in the near future, following the launch of Google Pay in Germany earlier this year and in advance of Apple Pay's arrival in Germany, reported TelTarif.de. Users in Germany said they have been able to download and install the mobile payments app and even received confirmation emails for signing up to Samsung Pay, indicating the imminent launch of the payment app in Germany is "more likely", wrote TelTarif.

Deutsche Bank said it has acquired an equity stake in the US-based payments startup ModoPayments. Google's mobile payment service Google Pay has now launched in Germany, reported Heise Online. Customers can download the app from the Google Play Store and use the mobile payment service if they have a credit card with one of Google's partner banks in Germany.
