N26 plans expansion of mobile banking service to Brazil

Startup N26 plans to launch its mobile banking service in Brazil soon, the company announced at MWC. N26 is already available in 24 European countries and also close to launching in the US, reports Techcrunch. Brazil is expected to start after the US. 

N26 said that it has 2.5 million customers and over EUR 1 billion in N26 accounts. 

Eduardo Prota will be the General Manager for Brazil, where the company will compete with Nubank.

Germany-based digital bank N26 said that it has received an additional USD 170 million in financing in an extension of its Series D round. N26 received USD 470 million in total for the Series D round, valuing the company at USD 3.5 billion.

N26 to look for cooperation with banks in Switzerland after summer

German digital bank N26 wants to expand in Switzerland after the summer through cooperations with local banks, Neue Zucher Zeitung reports. The German banking license of N26 will be approved by the Swiss financial supervisory authority Finma. N26 wants to initially offer customers in Switzerland a Euro bank account linked to a free of charge Mastercard debit card. In a second step, the offering would include, for example, savings accounts or a bank account in Swiss francs.

German financial regulator puts N26 under scrutiny

Germany-based mobile-only bank N26 has been under the scrutiny of the German Financial Supervisory Authority (Bafin), Handelsblatt reports. Bafin has detected, through a special audit last year, shortcomings in staffing and technology, and management of outsourced tasks. In addition, Bafin criticised parent company N26 for taking over many tasks from the N26 Bank.

Germany-based  mobile-only bank N26 announced the closing of a USD 300 million Series D funding round at a USD 2.7 billion valuation. The round was led by US venture capital and private equity firm Insight Venture Partners with the participation of Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC and existing investors, according to a company press release.

Mobile banking startup N26 passes 1 mln customer mark

German mobile banking startup N26 has doubled the size of its customer base over the past nine months and now has 1 million customers across Europe, reported TechCrunch. The mobile banking app's customer base now generates EUR 1 billion in transaction volume every month, while roughly 2,500 new users sign up for the app each day, they said. N26 said it aims to have 5 million customers on hand by 2020 and plans to accomplish this by moving into the mobile payments market in the UK and US in the coming months

German mobile banking start-up N26 announced that it has closed its Series C round to obtain additional funding of USD 160 million. The Berlin-based start-up said this latest round of financing is a record for the German fintech industry and brings its total funding to date to USD 215 million. The latest funding round was led by the asset management and insurance firm Allianz X and the Chinese tech firm Tencent.
