Mobile devices account for 44% of all online viewing in Q2

Mobile devices made up 44 percent of all online viewing during the second quarter, having grown 111 percent year on year, according to Ooyala's Global Video Index Report. However, the April to June period was the first quarter mobile viewing hasn't increased at a double-digit rate, said Ooyala. Smartphones continued to drive mobile viewing growth, accounting for eight times more plays than tablets in Q2. The report suggests that by year's end 50 percent of all online video starts will be on mobile devices as smartphone screens become larger, viewers increasingly watch long-form premium
