Mobile e-commerce transactions up 68% in Netherlands

The number of online purchases with a smartphone by Dutch consumers increased by 68 percent last year, according to the eCommerce Payment Monitor, a study into online payment methods by GfK, iDeal and Thuiswinkel.org. In total, 174 million online transactions were recorded, an increase of 22 percent from 2015. iDeal's share of all online payments was largely stable, at 57 percent versus 56 in 2015. In the smartphone segment, iDeal rose to a 47 percent share from 39 the previous year.
