Mobistar underlines need for access to Telenet cable network

Monday 20 April 2015 | 11:06 CET | News
Mobistar issued a statement acknowledging the acquisition of Base by Telenet and said it expects regulators to examine the deal thoroughly, taking into account the interests of both fixed and mobile customers. The Orange subsidiary reiterated its intention to become a convergent player on the Belgian market, via regulated wholesale access to Telenet's cable network. Mobistar said the proposed Base acquisition will strengthen the duopoly of Telenet and Proximus on the Belgian market, and regulators should take this as a sign to require better conditions for access to the cable network.
