Moldova's pay-TV revenues down 3% in 2016 to MDL 152 mln

Moldova's pay-TV revenues declined by 3.2 percent year-on-year in 2016 to MDL 151.7 million mainly due to decreasing revenues of cable TV operators, according to data provided by telecommunications authority Anrceti. The total number of paid TV subscribers decreased by 1.9 percent compared to 2015 to 269,900 mainly due to the decline of cable TV customers. The cable TV customer base was reduced by 7.1 percent to 191,800. At the same time, IPTV customers rose 13.6 percent to 78,000. Combined pay-TV ARPUdropped by 2.5 percent to MDL 46.7. In terms of revenue, Moldtelecom has the highest market share, 30,6 percent, ahead of Sun Communications with 26.7 percent, and TV-Box with 11.1 percent. The combined market share of 105 other operators

was of  31.6 percent.
