Mondo mobile banking service launches in UK

The new UK banking service Mondo announced the beta launch of its app, opening the service to users across the UK to test. An alpha test phase of 136 days saw 3,000 users try out the iOS app, and the company said it now plans to add around 1,000 users a week from registrations on its website. Mondo promises a new way of banking, with current accounts centred around the smartphone and an associated debit card. Mondo does not expect to receive its banking licence until later this year, so it does not yet support services such as direct debit. Instead it allows users to start out with a prepaid
