More cell towers destroyed, targeted in Myanmar

Over 80 telecom towers have been destroyed by civilian forces in Myanmar, amid social unrest in the country, The Irrawaddy reported. The targeting of Mytel telecom masts has picked up pace since last week. At least 14 telecom towers belonging to Mytel, one of four telecom operators in Myanmar, were destroyed by 9 September. On 12 September, the ruling junta announced that there had been 68 attempts to destroy or torch telecom towers across the country. They did not specify the owner or operator of the masts targeted.
