More households in the Netherlands had tablets than PCs last year, according to the state statistics agency CBS. Nearly six in ten (58%) of Dutch households had tablets, while only 50 percent had PCs. It also found that 73 percent had at least one smartphone, slightly more than the share of homes with laptops. The smartphone is used most for going online when outside the home, by 67 percent of the Dutch aged 12 or older. Tablets and laptops are also being used more for mobile internet; a quarter said they do so, with the tablet steadily passing the laptop.
