More smartphone than PC users in Netherlands

The number of Dutch people with a smartphone has exceeded those with a PC for the first time, according to the report 'GfK Trends in Digitale Media'. The country counts around 8.5 million smartphone users (67% penetration), versus 8.3 million users of a PC or desktop computer (65%). Last December, 58 percent of the population used smartphones. Tablet use has also increased since then, to 53 percent of the population. Of the 8.5 million smartphone users, 20 percent said they use the phone for services such as WhatsApp (67%), e-mail (72%) and internet (78%), rather than calling. Almost a third
