More US customers use mobile deposit, frequency slips

More Americans deposited a check using their smartphones in the past year, but the frequency of depositing checks in this way dropped, according to an Ipsos Public Affairs survey conducted for the American Bankers Association (ABA). One in seven Americans deposited a check using their smartphones in the past year, up from one in eight last year. Of those who used mobile deposit, 54 percent did so at least once a month, down from 80 percent in 2014. Once-a-month depositors accounted for 27 percent (down from 46 percent) and those using it twice a month dipped from 23 percent to 12 percent. The
