Movistar, Claro, Personal win Argentina 2.5 GHz auction

Argentina’s telecom regulator Enacom has allocated spectrum in the 2500 MHz-2690 MHz (2.5 GHz) frequency range to Movistar, Claro and Personal, according to a filing in the official gazette. The filing did not disclose the price of the fifteen-year licences.

Movistar was awarded block A, which comprises 30 MHz over six channels in the frequency division duplex (FDD). Claro was also awarded 30 MHz in FDD mode while Personal was allocated 40 MHz over eight channels, four in FDD mode and four in the time division duplex (TDD).

According to the terms of the auction, the successful FDD candidates have between twelve and 48 months in which to roll out 2.5 GHz, depending on location, while the TDD block has a 48-month implementation deadline.
