Movistar eliminates tariff limits, launches unlocked phones

Movistar Spain has launched a campaign dubbed ‘Mas por lo mismo’ (‘More for the same price’), which seeks to eliminate minute and data limits from tariff plans, and tie-in periods for postpaid subscribers. The campaign marks one year since the introduction of Telefonica's Movistar Fusion quad-play service.

Telefonica will eliminate the tie-in period of 18 months for all its postpaid tariffs, including ‘Contrato Movistar Cero’ and ‘Contrato Movistar Total’. The measure will be applied to new customers as well as to existing subscribers. The offer is not available for customers who have acquired a new handset using loyalty points.

Additionally, over the next few days, Movistar will start selling the first unlocked mobile phones, allowing customers to use the devices in any mobile operator network.

By year-end, Movistar will make available a data sharing option, which allows mobile data subscribers to share the mobile data traffic included in their tariff plan among various devices and mobile lines.

Finally, Movistar customers using tariff plans that include a large amount of minutes will soon receive unlimited voice traffic.
