Movistar Mexico revenues, customer base down in Q1

Movistar Mexico saw its mobile customer base decline by 4.2 percent to 19.21 million in the first quarter of 2012, versus 20.05 million in March 20211. The decrease was due to the application of more restrictive criteria to both gross additions and customer disconnections from the third quarter of 2011, parent company Telefonica reported. The fixed wireless customer base rose by 36 percent to 821,400 users at 31 March, up from 604,100 in March 2011, bringing Telefonica's total customer accesses in Mexico to over 20.03 million users.
