
Movistar starts LTE deployment in Mexico

Movistar has started the deployment of its LTE network in Mexico. The network is scheduled for commercial launch on 15 October. The technology will initially be available in Polanco, Mexico City, Zapopan, Jalisco, San Pedro, and Monterrey. Movistar plans to invest nearly MXN 3.120 billion in its LTE network deployment during 2012 and 2013, CNN Expansion reports, citing Juan Abellan, CEO of Movistar Mexico. Movistar 4G LTE service will be available for monthly fees ranging between MXN 1,200 and MXN 2,500.
