Movistar to offer installment plans for unlocked smartphones

Wednesday 8 April 2015 | 09:13 CET | News
Movistar (Telefonica) is to begin to sell unlocked smartphones on installment plans of up to 24 months starting on 16 April, reports website Xataca Movil. The operator already offers unlocked handsets for use with any mobile operator network but has only provided monthly installment plans to customers who agree to subscribe to a Movistar contract. This is set to change thanks to the Telefonica Consumer Finance joint venture set up with Spanish financial services provider CaixaBank.
