MPs want companies to face fines for cyber breaches

The cross-party Culture, Media and Sport Committee has called on the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) to introduce a series of escalating fines for companies internet security failing. The recommendation was made in the Committee's Cyber Security report, which was initiated after the 2015 TalkTalk cyber attack. It also recommends that security by design should be a core principle for new system and apps development and a mandatory part of developer training.
