MTN, Ericsson and Netstar record 5G first for South Africa

Friday 16 November 2018 | 11:25 CET | News
MTN and Ericsson have announced South Africa's first 5G customer trial deployment with a fixed wireless access site at Netstar's headquarters in Midrand. It operates on the 28 GHz band with a total bandwidth of 100 MHz using Ericsson trial antenna integrated radio units and Intel 5G Mobile Trial Platform, providing Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) in the customer premises. Many Netstar employees can connect to this trial 5G network via Wi-Fi hotspots, too.
