MTN Ghana FY revenue up 16% on data, mobile money expansion

MTN Ghana reported a 15.9 percent increase in its revenue in 2015 to GHS 2.315 billion. This was supported by 85.2 percent growth in data revenue, which contributed 30.6 percent to total revenue. MTN attributed the strong growth to appealing data bundle packages, an improved device strategy and an increased focus on 3G quality and coverage. The number of smartphones on the network increased by 40.8 percent to 3.2 million. Mobile financial services also showed healthy growth, and MTN Mobile Money customers increased by 68.1 percent to 5.7 million. EBITDA rose by 4.3 percent to ZAR 3.19
